How ScrapMetrics presents prices and quotes
This page describes the existing public workflow: dated spot-price snapshots, user-submitted yard quotes, and a comparison shown only when the required data is available.
1. Price snapshots
The prices surface presents prices in the selected currency and includes a timestamp for the snapshot. The public references are intended to help with context; they do not represent a guaranteed price for a particular lot, grade, yard, or transaction.
Price values can be unavailable when the underlying snapshot is not available or has become stale. That status is kept visible instead of being described as a confirmed, current market value.
2. Yard quotes
The yard quote feed contains prices submitted by users after a yard gave them a quote. Each public row is dated and anonymized to these fields: metal, coarse region, quoted price, currency, and submission date. The public row does not expose the literal yard name, submitter identity, board description, weight, or screenshot.
A submitted quote is an observation from that submission, not a statement that every yard offers the same price. The feed may be empty or have limited coverage, and this page makes no claim that it is complete, official, or accurate for every location or material.
3. Spot versus quoted price
For a supported precious-metal quote, the quote detail uses the same spot snapshot as the prices surface. It converts that snapshot to the quote's currency before placing it beside the submitted price. The displayed percentage delta is the quoted price versus spot:
(quoted price − spot price) ÷ spot price × 100
Spot and delta are shown as unavailable when the quote's metal is not supported, the quote row is missing, or the spot snapshot is stale. A missing comparison is therefore left unavailable rather than filled with an estimate.
What to take from the pages
Use the snapshot and quote feed as separate pieces of context: one is a dated reference price, and the other is a dated user-submitted observation. Comparing them can show how a particular quote sits against the available spot snapshot, but it does not turn either value into a guaranteed offer or a complete market record.
